Stephan Gais, Managing Partner of Carl Mahr GmbH & Co. KG, was elected Chairman of the sponsoring association of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Förderverein Fachhochschule Göttingen e.V. (FFG)) on 8 June 2017. Mahr thus continues its long-term commitment to the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology at HAWK in Goettingen.

Stephan Gais took over the chair from Professor Dr. Gerd Litfin on 8 June 2017 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology of HAWK. The managing partner of Mahr, one of the world's leading manufacturers of production metrology in Goettingen, Germany, was unanimously elected at the FFG Annual General Meeting. The task of the sponsoring association is to promote the work of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology of HAWK in Goettingen mainly through donations from members and donations from regional and supraregional companies. "The Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology is of great importance for the education and further education of our employees and the transfer of knowledge between higher education and industry," said the new chairman Stephan Gais. "I am therefore particularly pleased to continue the successful work of Prof. Litfin in the future and to accompany HAWK on their path that is important to us all." His predecessor, Gerd Litfin, emphasized the importance of an industrial representative who is closely involved with the daily circumstances and changes being at the head of the sponsoring association. "With Mr. Gais, we have found the ideal representative."

Mahr has been cooperating with HAWK for several years to establish an educational partnership, for example, in the integrated degree program for the Bachelor of Engineering. In this program, students combine practical training at Mahr with studies at HAWK, optimally combining practical and theoretical knowledge. Mahr offers this practical training in the integrated degree program in Precision Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering / Information Technology. Mahr also supports the students with their final thesis. Mahr offers most of the graduates a permanent and family-friendly position with numerous career opportunities and development opportunities.
