Data interface for OPC UA available in MarWin

The MarWin software now offers a data interface for OPC UA.

The MarWin software now offers a data interface for OPC UA. Mahr is thus making a decisive contribution to integrating quality assurance in production into the transition to Industry 4.0. Customers can now record measurement data digitally and process it in a largely automated manner.

Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture (OPC UA for short) enables data flows between different systems and machines via the company's internal network or the Internet without any breaks. As of version 14.40, the MarWin software includes a data interface to implement OPC UA. This module can be purchased optionally via a corresponding license. It is currently available for devices from the MarSurf, MarForm, MarShaft and Mar4D product families. Mahr's application engineering team will take care of individual configuration to meet the customer's needs.

OPC UA established as a machine language in production

The interface not only makes it possible to provide data for the OPC 40210 standard, which focuses on information for geometric measuring systems. It is also suitable for many other OPC standards, which increases application options and flexibility for customers. "OPC UA as a machine language has established itself on the shop floor," says Michaela Sander, Product Manager for MarWin at Mahr. "The OPC UA-generated data creates added business value for the customer, especially when this data is transferred to the Asset Administration Shell and processed further." The Asset Administration Shell (AAS) is a standardized digital representation of assets. An asset, in turn, is a component of an Industry 4.0 solution such as a physical object, software or document. The AAS is also referred to as a standard for implementing a digital twin in Industry 4.0.
